Music & Arts Education COVID-19 Response Working Group
On August 20, Orleans Parish School Board unanimously passed a resolution establishing a Music and Arts Education COVID-19 Response Working Group to research and provide recommendations regarding policies for continued access to high-quality K-12 music and arts instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is an exciting opportunity to support music and arts education, at a critical moment for students, teachers and schools – and as a community, we are up to the challenge! Committees will provide recommendations for music, other performing arts, and visual arts (including media arts) by December 4, 2020.
Artist Corps New Orleans and the New Orleans Arts Education Alliance, working with NOLA Public Schools, are leading this initiative. Sign up here, and we will be in touch!
Working Group members should be available to:
Attend three meetings between now and November 19, 2020 (every other week)
Provide feedback on policy recommendation documents
Optional: assist in other areas of your expertise (researching other city’s policies, helping to draft documents, engaging parents and community members, etc.)
